Yes, that Verdi.

Giuseppe Verdi.

Composer.

He understood drama.

Power. Conflict. Love. Ambition.

He understood people. Mostly.

Verdi wrote operas.

But people heard something more.

Ideas about power. Freedom. Identity.

A country still trying to become one.

VIVA VERDI!

Long live Verdi.

It sounded simple enough.

And, of course, it was true.

Except it wasn't only about the composer.

Italy wasn't quite Italy yet.

A peninsula divided into states, foreign influence and competing ambitions.

And an increasingly popular idea:

Italy as one.

The name carried another message:

Vittorio Emanuele Re D'Italia.

Victor Emmanuel, King of Italy.

VERDI was a name.

VERDI was also a message.

VIVA V.E.R.D.I.

Long live the composer.

Long live the king.

Short. Memorable. Recognisable. Easy to repeat.

And just ambiguous enough.

Music became culture.

Culture became identity.

A name became a message.

A message became a symbol.

That's where our interest begins.

The medium changed. The principle didn't.

Two centuries later, everyone has something to say.

Brands. Politicians. Institutions. Companies. People. Algorithms.

The difficult part isn't saying something.

It's being remembered.

Communication doesn't begin with content.

It begins with a thought.

Preferably, a good one.

Then comes strategy. Words. Images. Timing. Repetition.

And knowing when to stop talking.

We work with organisations, institutions and people who have something worth saying.

We think.

We position.

We create.

Almost two centuries later...

We still remember the name.

We still remember the music.

We still remember the slogan.

VIVA VERDI!

Worth remembering.

About us

Serious questions. Clear positions.

Verdi is a strategic communication boutique. Our clients have something to say, and most of them suspect that how it's said will decide whether anyone listens.

We work on context: the space, the moment, and the handful of people whose opinion actually counts. Usually where politics, culture and a few carefully chosen commercial projects meet.

Our team

Who you'll actually be talking to.

Mihai Pop, General Director

Mihai Pop

General Director

Studied at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and at WU Vienna, with a German-language master’s in business. During his doctoral research, he published several academic articles on disinformation and fake news. Has spent more than a decade moving between business, management and communication, which turns out to be useful when you have to run all three at once. He runs the company: operations, people, budgets and client relationships. He makes sure Verdi works as well as it thinks. Of the two, that’s the harder job.

Vlad Pîrvu, Strategy Director

Vlad Pîrvu

Strategy Director

Marketing graduate of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, journalist by training and temperament. More than a decade in political, institutional and brand communication, and more than a few election campaigns survived. Decides what a project is really about, occasionally before the client does. His curiosity rarely stops where the brief does, which may explain Verdi’s particular interest in editorial and cultural work.

Iancu Horațiu, Financial Director

Iancu Horațiu

Financial Director

Studied at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, German section, followed by a German-language master in business administration. Before stepping into leadership, honed financial discipline inside large energy players, where margins for error simply didn't exist. Has spent over six years steering the company's financial core, turning raw numbers into clear strategic decisions. Keeps budgets honest, reporting clean and compliance pleasantly uneventful.

Rareș Dima, Head of Video Production

Rareș Dima

Head of Video Production

Studied cinematography at UNATC in Bucharest, with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, then added a copywriting course at the ADC Advertising School. As a Director of Photography, he has shot four feature films, a docu-drama and two TV series, along with a long list of shorts. As a colorist, he graded season 10 of MasterChef Romania. Has spent years behind the camera, in the edit and in the grading suite. He runs video production at Verdi and contributes to the scripts for campaign spots. He makes sure the idea that sounds good in the meeting also looks good on screen. The meeting room is forgiving. The camera isn’t.

Diana Babanica, Graphic Designer

Diana Babanica

Graphic Designer

Studied journalism and communication, then took a master’s in marketing, advertising and PR. She has developed creative concepts for national campaigns, for major Romanian brands, international brands and political campaigns alike. Each came with a different audience, a different deadline and the same expectation: that people notice. She works as art director, motion designer and UX specialist, shaping the visual materials of each brand.

Dragoș Sandu, Photographer and Filmmaker

Dragoș Sandu

Photographer and Filmmaker

Studied law, then chose the camera. The legal profession has coped. He has spent six years in advertising and marketing, taking photo, video and audio productions from first idea to final cut. His work includes TV commercials, documentaries and political content in which candidates actually have something to say. Outside work, he snowboards, surfs and is fascinated by wolves. You can feel all three in his films: patience, balance and timing.

What we do

Four disciplines. We stopped at four on purpose.

Strategy

Positioning. Research. Narrative. Reputation.

We start by working out the problem, which is rarely the one in the brief. Positioning, proprietary research and narrative architecture, for organisations and for the people whose names are on the door.

Creative

Concept. Identity. Campaigns. Social media. Cinematic production.

A strategy that stays in a document is an expensive opinion. We give it form: concept, identity and campaigns built on one idea instead of a content calendar. From a single post to a cinematic production, everything starts with a thought someone will still remember next week.

Public Affairs and Political Communication

Institutions. Public figures. Issues. Elections.

Counsel for institutions, public figures and elections, the moments when everything ends up being said in public anyway. From the crisis that arrives on a Friday evening to a position meant to outlast the news cycle.

Culture and Ideas

Editorial. Cultural projects. Conversations worth having.

Culture is where a society works out what it thinks, usually some time before politics catches up. Communication for cultural institutions, editorial work, and a few projects of our own. Visibility usually follows. We just try not to confuse the two.

Areas of experience

Where context does most of the work

  • Politics and elections
  • Government and public sector
  • Civil society
  • Culture
  • Energy
  • Banking and finance

Who we work with

The problem matters more than the service.

You call us when

  • You don't yet know what needs to be said. How to say it comes second.
  • The stakes leave no room for a wrong call: a crisis, an institutional position, an election.
  • The conversation has to happen at the top, not be relayed through a marketing department.

We don't take

  • Execution briefs with no strategy behind them. Someone else will do them faster, and probably cheaper.
  • Mandates where we're one supplier among several, with no seat near the decision.
  • Work that leaves nothing behind.
